The Challenge

Jeff Palmer contacted Blackburn Foundation Repair after noticing a 6-foot GeoLock anchor extender left behind following his wall stabilization project. Shane stopped by to check on the finished work and make sure everything was in order.

During the visit, Jeff shared how impressed he was with the entire process — especially how quickly the crew completed the work and how well the wall was straightened on the first attempt, leaving it looking clean and nearly flush.

Originally, the plan involved installing GeoLock wall anchors. However, the crew ran into solid rock while drilling and couldn’t get the rods past Jeff’s deck. Rather than forcing a solution that wouldn’t work, the team adjusted the plan on site.

The Solution

The crew pivoted to installing PowerBraces, allowing them to fully stabilize the wall without digging outside or requiring Jeff to remove his deck. This alternative provided a secure, effective solution while minimizing disruption to the home.

Jeff explained that another contractor had previously quoted him nearly three times the cost. Their proposed solution involved tearing up his garage floor, installing jacks to lift the structure, allowing the system to settle, and then having Jeff pour concrete himself to finish the job. Not only was it more expensive, but it also would have required significantly more time, labor, and inconvenience — without being the right fix for his situation.

The Results

Jeff was genuinely surprised by how smoothly and efficiently the Blackburn crew handled the project. The wall was secured quickly, the appearance met his expectations, and the entire process avoided unnecessary demolition and delays.

Shane wrapped up the visit by collecting the forgotten rod and T-square — and even left with a few fresh walleye as a thank-you. Most importantly, Jeff and his wife were extremely satisfied with the outcome, and his wife submitted a positive post-installation review approving the work.
