Building Trust and a Path Forward in Yankton, SD
Service Design Specialist: Shane Henrickson/Jason Gilk
Service Type: Foundation Wall Support
Location: Yankton, South Dakota
The Challenge
Connie Carda needed help addressing three basement walls that were beginning to bow. Jason G. initially visited her home for a service appointment and identified the need for wall support to protect the structure and prevent further movement.
After the initial visit, Shane reached out to Connie to walk her through what would be required on her end and how Blackburn could provide added protection for her home. Connie was approved for $17,000 in financing, but the full scope of the recommended work came in at $26,000 — creating understandable concern about how to move forward.
The Solution
Shane worked directly with Connie to help her through the financing process and was able to increase her approval to $20,000. By scaling the project to fit that amount, Connie initially planned to move forward with a reduced scope.
However, after further discussion, Connie shared that she lives in the basement while her child and grandchildren live upstairs — and she wanted the peace of mind of having the entire job completed so she could safely finish her basement.
Jason returned to the home to walk Connie through the space again, showing her exactly where existing walls could be removed ahead of time to reduce labor costs. His calm, clear explanations helped ease her concerns and allowed her to feel confident in the plan.
The Results
With trust built through consistent follow-up, clear communication, and genuine care, Connie chose to move forward with the full proposal. She expressed appreciation for Shane’s knowledge, diligence, and timely follow-up, as well as Jason’s bedside manner and willingness to return and explain every detail.
What started as a financing concern turned into a long-term solution that protects her home and supports her family’s living space.
The real win: Connie’s trust — earned through teamwork, transparency, and a commitment to doing what’s right for the homeowner.
